Albert and Annie Harkness Rushton

Annie was born in So Carolina, her father a Baptist minister before his conversion to the LDS church.  Annie was 6 years old when they were driven from their home by a mob of her father's former congregation.  Annie stood wide-eyed with fear as they broke into their home and took her father, lashed him and told him he had 24 hours to leave the town.

They fled South Carolina the next day and migrated 2 yrs later with the Mormon Pioneers. Her family moved to Hunter when she was15 yrs old. One Sunday she was walking to Sunday School with her father and a rig passed in which Albert Rushton's family was riding.

An exchange of glances blossomed into courtship and when she was 19 Albert wrote to her father, who was in So Carolina as a missionary, for permission to marry her. They married in 1900 and had 12 children.

Annie was always a hard worker, wonderful homemaker and exceptional community member. Even at the age of 95 her mind was as sharp as the mind of a teenager.

Albert was born and raised in Hunter. His parents Edward & Caroline migrated to Hunter from England. Albert was a hardworking man who enjoyed farming, his family and his community. He enoyed being part of the Hunter Baseball Team and served as both coach and player.
