Raymond Coats

Robert “Raymond” Coats was born in 1903 in Granger, Utah to Robert Dick Coats and Mary Edith Hunter. Their family farm was at 3800 W 4700 So. At the age of 10, his father died of kidney disease, leaving his mother with seven children (the youngest only being about 4 months old.)

“Raymond” worked very hard on the family farm. His mother made sure that “Raymond” learned to operate every piece of farm equipment.  His mother being a widow still made room in her home for nieces & nephews when they became motherless.   Raymond was a marvelous help to his mother.

“Raymond” married Ethel Nielsen and together they raised 4 wonderful children.

“Raymond” was heavily involved in the community; he was a favorite LDS Bishop in the area.

Raymond Trotting his horse- Horse Racing was popular
