Robert “Raymond” Coats was born in 1903 in Granger, Utah to Robert Dick Coats and Mary Edith Hunter. Their family farm was at 3800 W 4700 So. At the age of 10, his father died of kidney disease, leaving his mother with seven children (the youngest only being about 4 months old.)
