Did you "Tarry" at the Andrus Family's Tarry Shop?

Uncovering more is fun! We already posted the picture of the Andrus family as well as the Tarry Shop. (thanks Trixi for more Tarry shop photos) But, I just found a newspaper article about the wonderful Keith & Eilene Andrus.

• Keith Andrus, Bishop of the Granger LDS Ward, has resided in the community for almost 16 years.
• The growth of the area has been quite evident to Keith Andrus. When he first moved into his home at 3545 W 3500 S, there were few residence in the area.
• “Homes have really sprung up since we moved here”. Keith Andrus noted. “Most of the area was farmland then”.
• A native Utahan, Keith was born and raised in Magna, the son of the late Mr. & Mrs George Andrus.
• He and his 4 brothers were raised by their father from the time Keith was 12-years old.
• He attended Webster elementary, Cyprus Jr and Sr High Schools. A 1941 graduate from Cyprus, he played football for the Pirates and was elected class president when a sophomore.
• A veteran of WWII. Keith served in the Army Corp as a radio operator for 2 years. He was stationed in Texas, Kansas, Colorado and Arizona.
• Keith also attended the University of Utah for 3 yrs. Presently an insurance broker, he and his partner, Louis Bagley, own the Family Homes Realty company.
• Before becoming an insurance broker, Keith worked for 2 years with Kennecott Copper Corp. as an independent milkman.
• In addition to his present duties as Bishop, he has served as president of the Elders Quorums. His brother Paul is president of the Northern Far East Mission in Japan.
• His wife, Elaine is the daughter or Mr & Mrs Smith Bawden. A native of Granger, she attended Monroe Elementary school and graduated from Cyprus High School.
• Together with her mother and sister, Mrs Joyce Dougins, Elain has owned and operated the Tarry Shop in Granger for 2 years.
• Mrs Andrus has been a MIA Maid teacher in the Mutual for the past 4 yrs and teaches nursery class in Sunday School. She also has been a Primary Teacher.
• Keith and Elaine have 4 children. Kathy Ann, 14, attends the 8th grade at Valley Jr High. She sings in the Girls Ensemble, and has participated in the school play. Kathy is a nursery class teacher in Sunday School.
• Launa Lee,12, is in her final year at Monroe and enjoys sports. Tommy, 7, is in the 2nd grade at Monroe and his favorite sport is MARBLES. The youngest of the family is Robby, 2.
