Norm Bangerter
Norm Bangerter was born in Granger Utah to William Henry Bangerter and Isabelle Bawden. At the age of thirty, Bangerter founded his own construction company, which specialized in home building and residential real estate development. He developed the company into a very successful enterprise which did especially well during the economic boom of the 1970s.
He served in the Utah House of Representatives from 1975 to 1985 and as speaker of that body from 1981 until 1985He became Governor of Utah from 1985 to-1990.Bangerter's "foremost interest was improving the state's educational system" The Bangerter Highway which opened in 1998, was named after him.
