Marcus Bennion

Marcus Leslie Bennion was born at home in Granger in 1892. He was the oldest son of Marcus and Lucy Smith Bennion. He was reared on his father's irrigated 60 acre farm and 120 acre dry farm. His father died from diabetes in July 1913 leaving 21 year old Marcus   to operate the farm and lead the family. He married Ella Fern Petersen in 1915.. He was active in the LDS Church serving in many positions. His formal schooling ended at grade 8 but he later took courses at the Utah State Agricultural College. His father had been in the sheep business which he continued for a time and then changed to milking cows and selling the milk to Winder Dairy.  

Marcus was a beloved neighbor and community member
