Grand Opening July 27 1970

A new shopping pattern was ushered into the Salt Lake Valley today with the long-expected dedication and the opening of the $14 million Valley Fair Shopping Mall.

Some 70 stores had their grand opening today in the enclosed regional mall, which is expected to have a big impact on the shopping habits of the west side of the Valley as its competitors, the Cottonwood Mall, had on the east side 8 years ago.
