Family Farm

The Rasmussen Family Farm was located on the South West corner of 4100 south 4800 west.  They had 6 chicken coops (I think he told me 1,000 chickens at one point) and 20 cows. The milk was sold to the local dairy (she mentioned Winder Dairy). Their eggs were sold to The Utah Poultry house.

The family farm included a lovely fruit orchard.

They also had a dry farm at  "Soneboat Rock & Coonville", where they grew wheat and other types of grain.

Martin was part of a group of farmers that had a thrasher, combine and harvester (steam engine equipment)

Her father, brothers along with J Nielson & B Wilken built the home, additions, outbuildings and the family barn.

Her Mother

Zola got a tear in her eye as she remembered her wonderful mother Ida Hayden.

Zola said she had one of the best mothers on earth. "She did everything...   Always working, quilting, creating rugs and making the family home and farm run smoothly."

She also worked very hard on the family farm. Ida took good care of the family, she gave birth to 16 children, 3 of which died as infants.

Zola

She showed me her Hands, which were beautiful. But these hands were also worn due to a lifetime of work.

Zola milked cows, fed chickens and helped her parents with the family farm. Her hands were never idol on the Rasmussen Farm.
