Carl Allen
Carl bought his Granger Home in 1962 just south-east of the Valley-Vu Drive-in.
. He raised 7 children in that home, 4 of them are veterans. Carl was a Korean War Veteran.
His parents
In about 1950 Cliff and Iris Allen purchased the Salt Lake Costume Co.
This company began in 1889. There were only a 3 different owners. The Allen family purchased it in 1950 and owned it until until about 1990.
CARL
Carl took his role in the family business very seriously. He enjoyed helping others look their best, silliest, scariest or funniest for whatever party they had. He was an expert costumer. He enjoyed managing the store.
Carl lived in Granger and was active in both the Granger community and the Sugar House community. He was on the Sugar House Chamber of Commerce.
Carl worked at the Salt Lake Costume Company until the family sold it in 1990. He said "I started as a cleanup boy and was head of the company after my Dad passed away. I retired early because of my poor health. We sold the business shortly thereafter. Although the business never made us rich it did support 6 families."
The Salt Lake Costume Co. had 3 locations. They were at 1701 S 1100 East most recently
