O Thayne Acord

Thayne, the man that saw value & worth in everything!

Thayne was always hard working. When he was a young teen his father died and he started working to help provide for his widowed mother. As a youth he worked many jobs. As he grew into adulthood he stayed busy. He found that being a sheep herder was profitable.

In his early 1920’s he borrowed $5 and headed for Salt Lake City.

It didn’t take Thayne long before he was owned the Golden Goose at 2340 State Street. He always had an eye for investments and expanding and improving a current business.

In 1939, he married the beautiful Lorraine Kimmie. She was lovely, adventurous and hardworking too.

They were always a great team.

In 1939 at the age of 26 he turned his interest to Granger Utah. He purchased Frank Erath’s Redwood Garden’s café and quickly improved it. He added gas pumps.

Our hearts were broken when Thayne and Lorraine were tragically murdered by neighbors. A senseless loss to his wonderful family and the community.

Thayne did the most amazing things in the 40 years he was part of this community. His legacy still lives on.

He is still loved, remembered, appreciated and missed.
