Orin was a hard worker

As a young boy, Orin farmed, herded the cows, hunted sparrow eggs (worth 5cents a dozen), haul manure, cleaned the area canals, picked apples for Mr. Hemenway's large orchard.

After going to Granite High for 2 years he got a job at Mr. Smiths store than at Utah Copper Co. He also worked on the Bawden Family farm and looked over another 200 acres of irrigated land and a dry farm.

He then worked for the Local Sugar Factory 1/2 day and farm the other 1/2.

Then decided he wanted to work even harder to support his ever-growing family He began working 16 hours a day. He worked on a neighboring hay farm for 8 hours a day and then the Bawden farm for another 8 hours each day. He kept up this schedule for 4 years.

In the 1930's Utah Lake was almost dry and so farming was tough. He went to work at the Utah Poultry association for 10 years. He then spent 13 years as a Patrolman at the Monroe School.
