Paul & Shirley Bigler

Paul was always a hard worker. He had many skills and talents. He has also had a love of sports. He was the area Athletic Director and neighborhood Basketball coach.

In 1947 he and his brothers opened The Bigler SpeedometerService Center and 2 years later added Appliances and TV's to the business.

In 1958 he and his wife Shirley Webb purchased some land near  4800 West 4100 South, worked the land and in 1960 opened a Paul's Par 3 Public Golf Course. 10 years later they opened an ice cream shop in front of the golf course.

Paul and Shirley worked very hard and their golf course gave much joy to the community. There are so many wonderful memories that have been shared by area residents about Paul's Par 3. It was well lit, always groomed, affordable and a wonderful place for area youth to spend their summers and spring and fall evenings.

We miss Paul and Shirley Bigler. We miss Paul's Par 3 and feel very fortunate that we had the opportunity to golf at a neighborhood course that was affordable and just a bike ride away.

I took a few pictures of what is left of the large sign where Paul's Par 3 was.
