Candy Lish Fowler

Candy Lish Fowler is an author, teacher, creator and award winning poet.

Candy loved to write as a child. She tells the story of her 3rd grade friend that recently send her back a poem that she wrote for him. Soon Candy found that in Granger Utah her main avenue for her creativity was not in writing but through Dance.

At Granger High Candy was a Student Body Officer,Sterling Scholar and 1st attendant to the Homecoming court also. She was also crowned Miss Utah Junior Miss. She attended the U of U as the Presidential Scholar and went on to do some amazing things.

She is the founder & director of the St George Southwest Dance Theater, she has been a dance instructor at the  the U of U and a dance instructor at Dixie State. She also founded the Tuacahn Center Dance Program. Candy also served on the Utah Arts Council and served as  President of the St. George Poetry Society.

Her poetry has won both state and national awards. she has written several books. She has won countless awards, her her most prestigious awards was that she was named "Utah Poet of the Year".  Recently she won the coveted award  “2018 Award of Excellence in the Arts” .

Candy's poems inspired a Summer Belnap to Choreograph an evening of dance based on Candy's book, "On a Road That Knows Me".  Here is a link to a rehearsal that I think you will enjoy.

Candy is married to Bill Fowler. They have four children and sixteen grandchildren.
