Midvale has saved precious items for their Museum
I always have mixed emotions when I enter a sister cities Museum and see all the amazing
parts of their city that they have preserved.
The reason I say this is because Granger/Hunter/Chesterfield are now the 2nd largest city in Utah and we have not created a Museum. Although we have asked the City to Fund one, the answer has always been No. My hope is that the 3 History books, 2 Facebook Pages, The Granger Website, the items and histories the Historical Society has collected and the few community displays that are put on for the public will be enough for the citizens and former citizens.
I think the partnership You and I have created on our Facebook Pages & Website have been amazing. I have found thousands of pictures over the last 10 years and thousands of you sharing their memories has been priceless!
But I can assure you, if I was wealthy I would fund a Museum and create a large, wonderful collection of the history of Granger/Hunter/Chesterfield for you & future generations.
My most recent visit to a nearby Museum was a few miles South. The address is: 7697 Main Street
Their Mission Statement:
The mission of the Midvale Historical Society & Museum is to collect, preserve, and interpret for the public benefit, education and enjoyment; the historical heritage of Midvale City, Utah
My Son came with me.
One of my favorite historians on the planet is Andy Pazzell. I met Andy (pictured below wearing the baseball cap) while we were both scouring the County Archives. I was looking for pictures of Granger/Hunter and Andy was looking for pictures of Midvale. We soon became great friend in history.
