Frederick, a Women's Suffrage Advocate
Women's Suffrage which is the right of women to vote was important to Frederick B Eldredge.
The Utah Territory was first to grant woman the right to vote in 1870. It was revoked by congress in 1887.
It was restored in 1895 & written into law in the new State of Utah.
The New law said: "the rights of citizens of the State of Utah to vote and hold office shall not be denied or abridged on account of sex. Both male and female citizens of this state shall enjoy equally all civil, political and religious rights and privileges."
Local resident Frederick B Eldredge was a champion for Women’s Suffrage.
He worked tirelessly as the areas Registration Agent and made sure he visited every home and registered every adult female in the area to vote.
