Built 100 years ago and now it is serving a whole community
The David Harman Home was purchased by his son "Pete" in 1986. Pete then renovated it and donated it to the use of the Senior Community. It is now called The Harman Senior Recreation Center
The David Harman home was renovated twice.

"Pete" Harman, the son of Grace & David was just days old when his mother died from the Flu of 1919. His father then married "Carrie" (Grace's sister who's husband had died 7 yrs before). Together they raise the children in the home
"Pete" Harman is best known for his business sense. He is the co-founder of the worlds KFC Restaurants.
David & Grace Harman
David & Grace Harman married in 1898. After Grace's death he married Grace's sister Caroline in 1919 and together they raised the 14 children in the home
These steps were a favorite spot for "Pete" to play marbles, rest and plan as a child. He asked that the steps not be removed even though the side door was bricked up.
"Pete" signed the wall quilt.
This enormous original painting was at one time on the wall of one of "Pete's KFC Restaurants. When they renovated the restaurant Pete had the contractors cut out the drywall, preserve it and later build it into his childhood home.
Granger Wildflowers preserved in a frame on the wall
"Pete Harman's Foundation delivers 2 fresh boques of flowers to the Harman Home each week.
Several precious paintings are displayed on the walls. Several could of been painted by Pete's mother, Grace Harman
There is a "Train Room" on the lower level. Notice the KFC.
Exercise class, daily lunch, pool games, train club, water color classes, pottery class, computer room, weekly field trips, dances, programs, celebrations... These are all things that can be enjoyed by those 60* years old.
I got to explore the basement. The basement was used for bedrooms for the 14 children. They have left it "as-is" and use it as a storage area. Very interesting to see the original paint on the walls, the wallpaper and tile floors.
Pete bought this transport van/bus. The Seniors go on weekly adventures in it.
