Martha Harman Cannon

Martha Harman Cannon lived in Granger for almost 44 years.

She was born and raised in Salt Lake, Ogden & Colorado. She married Nicholas Cannon in 1895. Nicholas’s 1st wife died leaving him a young family to raise. Martha stepped up and became a wonderful asset to  Nicholas’s children.

Nicholas and Martha had 2 more children. They lived in Colorado for about 6 yrs and raised their beautiful family.

When Martha was 40  Nicholas, Martha and the 2 young children moved to Granger to run the Martha's parents Little Harman Country Store which was located at 4000 W 3500 South.

**Please note that the Little HarmAn Country store was NOT in the same location as the current Harmon's Grocery store.....(note the spelling difference in Harmon vs Harman). 

Martha was a wonderful addition to the Granger Community.  She was beautiful and kind and greeted all the customers to the "Cannon Store" by name. Many Granger Children called the store "The Candy Store" and they would spend there pennies and nickles  as they went to and from Monroe School across the street.

Martha  ran the Cannon Store from 1923-1956 and lived in the little apartment in back of the store.  The Cannon Store was leveled to make room for a Shopping Mall.
