John Thomas Evans
John was a hard worker, faithful and extremely involved in the Hunter community. He donated money to build the Hunter LDS Meeting house, helped plan and helped to build it. The building was finished in the Spring of 1886.

1st Missionary from Hunter to go to go on a Mission (he went to Wales 1888-1891)

John T. Evans, one of the sturdy pioneers of this State, died at Hunter, Salt Lake County, on June 19th, at the age of 78 years. Deceased was a native of Wales. In his youth he became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and emigrated to Utah in 1852. For many years he lived in the Sixteenth Ward, where he was highly respected not only in the ward, but throughout the city, as he was known to be man of sterling integrity. He spent several years in the missionary field where his assiduous labors were crowned with success. He is survived by a wife and five children.
