Alfred Jones
Alfred Jones moved to Hunter with his family in 1878 when he was 2 yrs old. H remembers when there wasn't much of anything in Hunter. In his life he has seen thousands of changes since the days of Horse and Buggy. He remembered tilling the soil all over Hunter. His father Homesteaded much of Hunter.
They had a very large farm to tend to. They worked from sun-up to sun-down.
He remembered herding cattle when he was too small to mount a horse by himself. His father would lift him on the horse in the morning and he didn't get off until evening. Many friendly Native American would lift him back on the horse if he needed to get down. In 1904 he married the beautiful Sarah Lester and they had 7 children. She passed away in 1922 leaving him the young family to raise. The youngest was 1 yrs old at the time.
He remarried Josephine Christiansen and together they raised the children.
Alfred stayed very involved in the Hunter Community and was loved by all.
