A Tribute to our Granger Utah Friend Roy Hedden

Almost 20 years ago (1998)our community was shook to its very core as 5 little girls were locked in the trunk of the car and all died on a hot summer day. They are often referred to as the "5 Little Angels".

It hit close to home, our Granger Utah's friend Roy Hedden's 5yr old daughter was one of those precious girls.

She was at the babysitters when the babysitter lost track of the girls who apparently were playing in the trunk of the car.

Due to this tragedy people became more vigilant to the importance of watching your little ones at all times. Not loosing track of them. The automotive industry was also changed by this tragedy. Vehicles were also equipped with interior emergency trunk releases.

Our Mickell who's nickname was Pickles impacted the world in her short 5 years on earth. I know her unexpected and tragic passing changed the way we all parent. It changed the way we watch our children. It changed the way we monitor there access to vehicles. It changed the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards & made an Interior Trunk Release mandatory. It changed us...each 7billion people on the planet.
Many important changes in the country changed that day she tragically died. We all feel her legacy must continue. Her mother has since passed away but her father has honored her life by yearly donating books and toys to the children in the West Valley City area. If you would like to help, please become part of the "Pickles Power" Facebook page to donate money or new books to be given to precious area children in McKell's honor.   https://www.facebook.com/groups/624275494299130/
