Memories from Phil Dellinger:

My father, Glen Dellinger managed the Utah Central Airport from about 1955 to somewhere around late 1958 or early 1959. Dad moved our family to Salt Lake City in January of 1956 from a small town in Colorado.

Our family lived in part of a maintenance hanger which had been converted into an apartment (3 bedrooms, living room and kitchen area). We lived there until late 1958 or early 1959 when Dad left the airport to take a job as a lumber salesman.

I don’t remember exactly when the airport closed down, or when the dragstrip was set up on the east/west runway. If you look at the picture for the Bonneville Drag Strip, #5 picture shows the old office building with the observation tower on top ( left hand side of picture just to the left of the wooden telephone pole).  This is my best recollection of the airport drag strip an the Utah Central Airport.
