Why do they call so many things "Hillsdale"?

Alexander Joseph Hill: Joe is what his friends called him, was born in 1860 in Mendon. Joe and Betsy were childhood friends in the Millcreek area. Joe loved to ride his horse and play baseball barehanded and Betsy loved to sing.
Joe married the lovely Bessy Bawden in 1883 Joe and Betsy crossed Jordan River on the wooden bridge. They settled on the property where the Valley Fair Mall not stands. In summer clouds of dust would rise high and carry with it gravel and dirt for miles. However, when the weather was good, it was a beautiful country. They were parents of 14 children . the first two passed shortly after birth and two beautiful daughters died when a neighbor child came to visit and brought Whooping Cough & Small Pox.
Joe was a hardworking man, he dug drains, planted crops and developed a beautiful farm. Joe loved horses, he would bring 25-30 horses from his families Wyoming ranch, break them and sell them. Coming home from a function, Joe would often engage others in a horse race. Often Joe was kindhearted and would often take his beautiful horse and buggy and pick up the elderly for church or community functions.
Joe was constable, he would often have visitors asking him to help with life's problems. His advise was to “Never go to court or sue one another…settle things between yourself”.

To this day there is a Hillsdale Subdivision, Hillsdale Park & Hillsdale Ward that honors the Hill family
