We were very fortunate to have Dr Wilson practicing in our community.
He had special training in removing tonsils, and actually taught residents at the U of U medical center
In than day, most tonsillectomies involved simply cutting them out and packing the tonsilor fossa with cotton sponges until the blood vessels retracted and bleeding stopped on its own. Dr Wilson used a kind of wire snare that in s single snip would take out the entire tonsil. As he "snipped", he would apply electro cautery to the instrument, so the sealed off vessels didn't bleed. Rather than packing the fossa, he then put one, sometimes two stitches across the tonsillor fossa which further eliminated post op bleeding. Since post op bleeding was (and still is), by far, the most common complication, his "belt and suspenders" approach virtually eliminated this problem. This approach was ideal for a community that had no local hospital.vv - Murray Eagle Newspaper-

UPDATE:
Ultimately Dr Wilson had 10 children. He went on to build the 2nd Granger Medical Location which was 3500 South about approx 3200 West which was very large clinic in that time. He was the first to bring medical specialists to our community. Because of him Orthopedics, Chest surgery and many other specialties were offered for the first time ever west of Redwood Road. He expanded Granger Medical to include 5 or six dentists.
In 1962, Dr Wilson sold out his interest in the Granger Medical Center At that time he bought a small office in Salt Lake... and finally took an office across the street from the new Saint Marks Hospital.
Dr Wilson delivered more like 3000 babies in his career...
