A Piece of Ol’ Granger Park Lives On

Honoring Ol’ Granger Park: A Hidden Gem on the Granger High Walkway

Over 50 years ago, the Granger Lions Club gave our community a gift — they purchased a park for everyone to enjoy. On the northeast corner of the park (3500 South and 3600 West) stood a large marker proudly identifying Granger Park.

When the park was eventually demolished, only one piece of that beautiful sign survived: a 6-inch brass portion of the original marker. Today, that small but meaningful piece has found a new home — fittingly close to where it once stood. You can find it on the walkway that leads from the Granger High School parking lot to the football field.

Though Granger Park is gone, this salvaged piece reminds us of the generations who gathered, played, and made memories there. Take a moment to visit this simple marker and remember the Ol’ Granger Park — a symbol of community spirit that still lives on.
