William C Winder

The Winder Family owned and operated Winder Dairy.  They moved the dairy from 4th East and 2700 South to 4100 South and 4400 West in the early 1920’s. William was pivotal to the growth of Winder Dairy.  Because of him the family business blossomed into a large corporation.

There were many advances while William was president of the company. Milk containers advanced from glass to poly-carbonate bottles, deliveries moved from horse-drawn to trucks. There were as many as 1,000cows in the Winder heard at one time. The small family operated business blossomed with William Winder at the helm. As Winder Dairy grew, William demanded that  milk delivery still had the small, personal feel  and we all looked forward to the Winder Dairy Milkman’s deliveries on our front porch.
