Thomas Barton

Born in 1874, Thomas moved to Granger when he was 6 yrs old and homesteaded 160 acres with his family. He was a big help to his family on the Granger acerage. He married Rose Warr of Granger, they were a marvelous team. He bought one of the few Threshing Machines in the area with David Warr, George Grant and Ray Bvolton. The community greatly benefited from this machine. Thomas helped to organize the first sugar beet association called The Salt Lake Tooele County Sugar Beet Association. Thomas spent a number of winters hauling hay to Salt Lake only getting $4 per ton. At that time, there were no paved roads, no electric lights, no telephones, nothing but hard work.
He was very hardworking and extremely active in the community
